Diecut Divas Fairy with a Ladybug

Well here we are at the end of another month but we still have time to fit in one more new technique over at Diecut Divas to inspire you - so here is mine.

House of Borowski, Bugaboo Ladybug Fairy, spellbinders classic circles large, impression obsession layered floral set, stamptv hello sunshine, hero arts neon pink, distress ink spun sugar.

Using this gorgeous Bugaboo Stamp Ladybug Fairy I wanted a card that was still fairly clean looking.
House of Borowski, Bugaboo Ladybug Fairy, spellbinders classic circles large, impression obsession layered floral set, stamptv hello sunshine, hero arts neon pink, distress ink spun sugar.
that is when I saw a technique by Maile Belles from Papertrey Ink called a Cutout PanelVery simple but very effective. You adhere your image and then cut a 1" strip on either side of your image - top and bottom.
House of Borowski, Bugaboo Ladybug Fairy, spellbinders classic circles large, impression obsession layered floral set, stamptv hello sunshine, hero arts neon pink, distress ink spun sugar. You then adhere your pattern paper or embossed piece to the back using pop dots. I have used double sided paper so I can leave the panel as is on the inside.

Perfectly Rustics Punch Art

Its the start of a brand new challenge over at Perfectly Rustics today and the theme is Punch Art. What is punch art I hear you say - well it is an amazing technique where you create different things out of die or punch shapes. This was my first venture into the realm of punch art and after talking to my friends Google and Pinterest, there are some amazingly talented people out there that seem to be able to turn anything into anything.
So with that in mind - here is my interpretation:

House of Borowski, couture creations nesting dies, cuttlebug swiss dots, divine swirl, impression obsessions layered floral set.

House of Borowski, couture creations nesting dies, cuttlebug swiss dots, divine swirl, impression obsessions layered floral set.

Card Tip:

I don't have a lot of punches so I used dies instead but I think the essential principle is the same. Here is how I achieved this lovely dress.
1 Heart Shape in Red
1 Scallop Circle in Red and White
Step 1 - with your heart shape, trim a little bit off the top of the heart to create your cleavage area.
Step 2 - Drew diagonal lines on both your scalloped circles and cut away to create the skirts (about 5 to 6 scallops on each side depending on how big you want your skirt)
Step 3 - Emboss your red skirt.
Step 4 - Attach your heart over the top of your red skirt with double sided tape.
Step 5 - wrap ribbon around the join the create the waistband.
Step 6 - arrange and adhere white skirt below red skirt.
Step 7 - decorate waist line and neckline.

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock:
white and red card stock from stash plus white card base cut down to 4 5/8" x 5 5/8".

Hi

I think in this day and age we are all touched by cancer in some way, whether it is a loved one, someone you know or someone in your community. Recently I have learnt that a lovely lady who I have just met on one of my design teams is having to have tests done for a possible return of cancer so we all decided that we would send her cards to hopefully brighten her day. This is what I sent her.

Fitztown Fall Colours

Over at Fitztown the current challenge is Fall Colors. Here in Australia we are in Spring so talking about Fall seems a little bit strange, but I will admit I love the combinations of the rich reds, burnt oranges, mustard yellows and any tone of brown which just says Autumn no matter where you are.

I was also inspired by a recent article in Quick Card Magazine for this layout (the one with the Christmas Tiddly Inks Stamps as a free gift)

House of Borowski, Fitztown Floral 6, cuttlebug, kaisercraft, kasazz, papertreyink

Card Tip:

I have fussy cut my rose images, quite often they recommend you go around the edge with a black marker so the white of the paper doesn't show, in this instance I went around with a copic marker to match the colours used and found this to be better, no fear of accidental black lines on your image and your edges are still softened.

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock: Cream card stock for 5.5" square card base, all other colours are from the DCWR neutrals card stock pack.
Stamps:
Fitztown Floral 6,Papertrey Ink doodle-do stamp set for sentiment
Ink:
Versafine Onxy black ink

Fitztown Anything Goes

My team is hosting the new challenge over at Fitztown this fortnight. What's the theme? Anything Goes of course.
I don't know about you guys but I try and make cards for a specific person but sometimes I make cards to have them in case I need them, and this is one of those times.  I have been making a lot of girl baby cards so I thought it would make sense to have a boy one on hand - just in case and here it is:
House of Borowski, kaisercraft, kasazz, spellbinders, cuttlebug

House of Borowski,kaisercraft,spellbinders,cuttulebug

I have personalised this pre-coloured image by adding the sentiment to it - I did this in Word so no fan dangled computer program needed but it means the image has a uniqueness about it.

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock:
Kasazz Ocean A5 card base, assorted blue and black card stock from my stash.
Papers:
Kaisercraft Lullaby 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 paper pad.
Stamps:
Fitztown Pre-coloured baby carriage, sentiment printed from my computer.

Spellbinders lotus pendant, classic ovals large, Cuttlebug typewriter.

A Mermaid under the Sea

Its time for a new challenge over at Perfectly Rustics and the theme is Banners. I have a niece that is obsessed with Ariel and all things mermaids, so not only is she having a mermaid party but I thought this card would be perfect for her.

House of Borowski, Elizabeth O Dulemba, Distress Inks, Simon Says Stamps little banner, tattered angels sprays

House of Borowski, Elizabeth O Dulemba, Distress Inks, Simon Says Stamps little banner, tattered angels sprays

House of Borowski, Elizabeth O Dulemba, Distress Inks, Simon Says Stamps little banner, tattered angels sprays

Card Tip:

I have created this background myself, here is how to achieve the same look:
Step 1: Using the distress inks of your choice - I used peacock feathers, bundled sage, tumbled glass and dusty concord, with a ink blending tool add varying amounts of each colour to white card stock.
Step 2:
once you are happy with the colour combination you have created spray the whole piece with a glitter spray - I used Tattered Angel iridescent gold.
Step 3: just in selected spots add more spray so you have pooling.
Step 4: move the card around so the pooling liquid moves around, this will also help blend the distress inks further.
Step 5: set aside to dry or heat it with your heat gun, just be careful of your pooled areas as the heat gun may direct them where you don't want them.

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock:
standard A5 white card stock base, white card stock for background piece and banners.
Stamps:
Elizabeth O Dulemba Coloring Page - Mermaid, AmyRus Stamps happy birthday for sentiment.
Ink:
Memento tuxedo black ink, Distress Inks as above and peacock feathers for edging the banners.
Markers:
               Skin: E000+E00+E21+R20
               Lips: R85+R83
               Hair: E33+E35+E23

Diecut Divas September Challenge - New Things

It's the first day of September and of course that means a whole new challenge over at Diecut Divas. This month we want you to try something new, that could be a new card fold, a new image, a new die or a new technique, we are giving you the perfect excuse to play!!!. So for my first card we have a Bugaboo image called Beautiful Fairy which is new to me.

I have also chosen a card fold new to me, I am calling it
"a cut a way" card fold - by the way if anyone knows the official name of this fold please let me know.

I also saw a technique online recently called double embossing which is below, a new technique I have tried.

Card Tip:

Double Embossing:
Step 1: Use an anti static device on your cardstock.
Step 2:grab an embossing folder you would like to use, it can have an all over impression or a selected one like mine.
Step 3: Find the recessed side (the side where the embossing doesn't stick out) Colour in the recessed areas with your Versamark Pen.
Step 4: carefully line up your piece of card stock on the other side of the embossing folder making sure the ink does not touch the card stock until you have closed the embossing folder.
Step 5: Run through your die machine as recommended.
Step 6: Remove from embossing folder and sprinkle over clear embossing powder and heat set.

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock:
Used a 5" x 7" white card base. Pink and Purple card stock from stash.
Stamps:
Bugaboo Beautiful Fairy, sentiment printed from the computer.
Markers:
               Skin: E000+E00+E21+E50+R20+R85
               Hair: E33+E25+E37
               Top & Pants: V04+V06+V09
               Tights: BG13+ BG15+BG49,
